My Favorite Place

My favorite place to go would be my room at my Dad’s house. I got to it every weekend. Usually when I’m alone sitting in my room I just listen to music and think about things, it’s my place to just relax and be myself. My room is not an ordinary room; my room is the whole basement of our condo, because there are no other rooms down there. It is never quiet because I always have to have noise, I just don’t like the quiet. I either have music playing or I’m watching a movie. Whenever my best friend Emily comes over to my house we usually hang out there, my dad and sister sometimes comes into my room as well but not that often. Whenever I’m in my room the first thing that would come to mind would be night, because whenever I’m in my room it always feels like night time even when its noon. My room means freedom. It’s the only place I can just sit there and do nothing. When I’m at my mom’s house I can’t do that so when I’m at my dad’s house I just go down there and relax.

blog post 2: Huck Finn response (ch. 13-17)

In Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck, the protagonist, Huck, is greatly influenced by four people: Widow Douglas, Tom Sawyer, Pap, and Jim.

Widow Douglas influences Huck by trying to teach him the importance of being proper and educated, she also teaches him about religion. Widow Douglas indirectly influences Huck by telling him what is wrong and right, so when he is not around her he still tries to follow her rules. Widow Douglas would ask him time and time again, “Why don’t you try to behave?”
Tom Sawyer influences him by putting adventure into his life and trying to help him stay with Widow Douglas. Tom Sawyer indirectly influences him by being adventurous and Huck admires him for that, so when he isn’t around Tom he would ask himself, “Wow Tom would be impressed.”

Huck’s pap influences him by being a bad role model, he lies and steals and beats Huck, and tells him to stop going to school and not to listen to anything Widow Douglas tells him. When Huck is not around his pap he picks up his bad habits like stealing and calling it borrowing. Huck’s pap once said, “Starchy clothes-very. You think you’re a good deal of a big-bug, don’t you?”

Jim influences Huck by being superstitious and teaching him what is bad luck and what is good luck. Jim once told him to not touch a snake skin with his hands and when he did bad things happened to him and Jim.

Without these key influences in his life, Huck would be a very different person.
